Do I Need A Bookkeeper If I Have Xero?
Xero can automate many bookkeeping tasks, but having accounting software does not necessarily mean your bookkeeping is automatically correct.
Xero can import bank transactions, automate parts of invoicing and reporting and provide access to financial information, but someone still needs to make sure transactions are correctly coded, accounts are reconciled and the information makes sense. Xero itself describes its bank feeds as a way for transactions to flow into the accounting system and be reconciled.
Think of Xero as the tool rather than the person responsible for using it correctly. A business owner who understands bookkeeping and has enough time may be able to manage their own accounts. As the business becomes busier, however, bookkeeping can become difficult to keep on top of.
A bookkeeper can take responsibility for the routine financial administration while the owner concentrates on customers, sales and running the business. Young Guns Bookkeeping provides Xero-focused bookkeeping support for Melbourne small businesses. We can help with ongoing bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other bookkeeping requirements depending on the business.
The goal isn't simply to keep Xero populated with transactions. It is to make sure the information in Xero is accurate, current and useful. If you already use Xero but your accounts are behind, messy or confusing, a bookkeeping cleanup may be the first step before moving to ongoing support.
